Pool and Outdoor Area Cleaning done properly
Most people book this because someone slipped. The edge around a pool is wet half the time, and in the shade it grows a thin layer of algae that is hard to see and very slippery underfoot. Alfresco areas pick up barbecue fat, drink spills and leaf stains, and bin pads and side passages just get grotty.
Around the pool, the main job is keeping the dirt out of the water. We work from the pool edge outwards, angle the spray away from the water, and rinse towards garden beds or a protected drain point. Pool pavers, travertine and coping are often soft or sealed, so we keep the pressure down and use a hooded surface cleaner on flat areas rather than a narrow wand.
This page covers pool surrounds, alfresco and barbecue areas, bin pads, side passages, outdoor stairs and retaining wall faces. If it is mostly paths and a patio you want cleaned, see our path and patio cleaning page. Plenty of people book both on the one visit.

How we approach pool and outdoor area cleaning
- 1
Protect and treat
We move what we can, protect the pool, equipment and gardens, and apply a treatment to loosen algae and grime before any pressure goes on.
- 2
Clean away from the water
Flat areas get an even pass with the surface cleaner, working from the pool edge outwards so dirty water runs away from the pool, not into it.
- 3
Detail and rinse
Coping, steps and corners are finished by hand, the area is rinsed towards garden or a protected drain point, and we check it over with you.
Why Moreton Bay and Brisbane north homes need it
Pools here get used for most of the year, and our humid weather means the shaded side of a pool surround rarely dries out properly. Algae builds up in that damp strip right where kids run and people step out of the water.
Bin pads and side passages are the forgotten bits of most Moreton Bay and Brisbane north homes. They sit in shade between the house and the fence, stay damp, and collect bin spills and leaf litter. A clean makes them nicer to walk through, and it matters when a buyer or property manager walks down the side of the house.

Pool and Outdoor Area Cleaning questions
Can't see your question? Call us and ask.
How much does pool and outdoor area cleaning cost?
A bin pad or side passage starts from $150, an alfresco or barbecue area from $180, and a pool surround from $220. Bigger areas, lots of steps or heavy staining change the price, and a few photos let us quote quickly.
Will dirty water end up in my pool?
We work hard to keep it out. We clean from the pool edge outwards, angle the spray away from the water and rinse towards garden or a protected drain point. A little fine spray can reach the water on a windy day, which your filter and normal pool care will handle.
Will cleaning make my pool area less slippery?
Yes, in most cases. The slippery layer is usually algae, and once that is removed the surface grips much better. It will grow back in time in shaded spots, so a yearly clean helps.
Can you clean travertine and sealed pavers?
Yes, with low pressure and care. Travertine is soft and sealer can be damaged by high pressure, so we check the surface first and adjust the method to suit.
Should I reseal my pavers after cleaning?
If the sealer is worn, a clean is the right time to reseal once the surface has dried. We don't do sealing, but we can tell you if the old sealer looks patchy.
Can you get barbecue grease off my alfresco floor?
We treat grease and food spills before we clean, and most fade a long way. Old fat that has soaked deep into concrete or porous stone may leave a shadow, and we will tell you that before we start.
Is this the same as path and patio cleaning?
They overlap, but this page is for pool surrounds, alfresco areas, bin pads and side passages. If you mainly want paths and a patio done, our path and patio cleaning page covers that. We can do both on the one visit.
How often should a pool surround be cleaned?
Once a year suits most pools, ideally before summer. Shaded surrounds that stay damp may need a clean every six to twelve months.
