House Washing done properly
The outside walls of a house collect dust, cobwebs, spider droppings and, on the shaded sides, a film of mould that slowly turns paint grey or black. It builds up so gradually that most owners only see it once the house is washed and the difference is obvious.
We soft wash rather than blast. A mild cleaning solution goes on at low pressure to break down mould and grime, it is given time to work, and then the house is rinsed gently from the top down. High pressure is never pointed at render, painted surfaces or window seals, because it can strip paint, force water behind cladding and damage the seals.
A house wash covers walls, eaves, fascias and the outside faces of the gutters, and we take care around windows, doors, light fittings and gardens. It is a good first step before repainting, and a simple way to refresh a home for sale or lease.

How much does house washing cost?
A single-storey house starts from $350 and a two-storey house from $550. If you only need the eaves and exterior gutter faces done, that starts from $220.
Will house washing damage my paint or render?
No. We soft wash with low pressure and a mild solution, and never point high pressure at render, paint or window seals. If paint is already flaking or chalky, we will show you before we start.
Is the cleaning solution safe for my garden and pets?
We wet garden beds before and after, and rinse thoroughly so the solution is diluted. Keep pets inside while we work and until the area has been rinsed.
Do you clean windows as part of a house wash?
Window frames, sills and the outside of the glass get rinsed as part of the wash, but it is not a detailed window clean, so some spotting can remain on the glass.
Do you clean inside the gutters?
A house wash covers the outside faces of the gutters, which is where the black streaks show. Clearing leaves from inside gutters is a separate job.
Should I wash my house before painting?
Yes. Paint sticks better to a clean surface, and washing first shows any areas that need repair. Allow the walls to dry fully before painting.
Do I need to be home?
Not for the whole job, but we need windows and doors closed, access to an outside tap and pets kept inside. We will send photos when we finish.
How often should a house be washed?
Every one to two years for most homes. Shaded walls and coastal homes often look best with a yearly wash.
