Roof Cleaning done properly
Roofs take the full weight of our weather. Over the years, mould, algae and lichen spread across tiles and metal sheeting, turning them dark and patchy and holding moisture against the surface. From the street, a stained roof can make an otherwise tidy home look older than it is.
We clean roofs with a soft wash. A treatment is applied at low pressure to kill and loosen mould and lichen, then rinsed gently. Blasting tiles with high pressure can crack them, strip their surface and push water under the laps, so we don't do it. Some lichen fades over the following weeks as rain washes away the treated growth.
At the moment we clean single-storey roofs that can be accessed safely. Safety comes first for us and for your home, so we look at the pitch, the condition of the roof and access before we confirm the job.

How much does roof cleaning cost?
A single-storey metal roof starts from $400 and a single-storey tiled roof from $450. The final price depends on roof size, pitch and how much growth there is, and we confirm it before we start.
Do you clean two-storey roofs?
We currently clean single-storey roofs that can be accessed safely. That lets us keep every job safe for us and for your home.
Do you use high pressure on roof tiles?
No. High pressure can crack tiles, wear away their surface and force water under the laps. We use a soft wash treatment and a gentle rinse instead.
Will all the lichen come off on the day?
Most mould and algae lifts on the day. Lichen often fades gradually over the following weeks as the treatment works and rain rinses it away.
Is a roof clean the same as a roof restoration?
No. We clean the roof surface. A restoration involves repairs, re-pointing and coating, which is a separate trade, though a clean roof is the right starting point for one.
What if you find a broken tile?
We will take a photo and tell you about it. We do not carry out roof repairs, but you will know what needs attention.
Is the treatment safe for my garden and rainwater tank?
We wet and protect gardens before and after the clean. If you have a rainwater tank, let us know so it can be disconnected from the downpipes before we start and reconnected once the roof has been rinsed and had some rain.
How often should a roof be cleaned?
Every few years suits most roofs. Shaded roofs and those under trees may need it sooner.
